Tucked away in a far corner of Charlotte Square, in a red-lined tent, we whiled away a sunny Sunday, finding the Lost Art of Correspondence in papers’ folds and creases, envelopes, stamps, graphite loops, rubber stamps and linen thread…

The Edinburgh International Book Festival, which continues until 27th August, has splendid bookshops, great cake, and a variety of seats in the fresh air…amongst all the obvious events and literary stimulations….
